Pot Pourie of Climate

Timothy Birdnow

A few climate points to ponder.

First, this paper shows that as of 2014 sea level rising rates had dropped off from the nineties levels (they have since come back but at the original rate of rise) and this is in direct violation of the carbon dioxide greenhouse warming theory.

Second, this last year Greenland gained ice mass to join Antarctica in gaining ice despite the claims the polar ice was melting away. And in fac t the Earth's rotation sped up, which is a sign the poles have gained ice (since more ice on top and bottom is like a figure skater putting her hands over her head and her feet together; she spins faster.)

Finally, I another list of scientists who have expressed their disagreement with the climate orthodoxy in contrast to the lie that 99% of scientists agree with the alarmist view. For a theory that has universal support (I doubt you could find 99% of scientists who would agree with the Copernican theory) there sure do seem to be a lot of people, especially top people, who say it ain't so.

It must be said to be a warmiac; they are fighting a losing battle. All they ever do on these Facebook groups to which I belong is post up the same tired, ridiculous graphs that show a hockey stick in planetary temperatures, something soundly rebutted time after time.

They pretend the Medieval Warming Period, the Roman Warming Period, and the Holocene Climate Optimum never existed. I actually had to spank some remedial child over claims the MWP and Little Ice Age were just regional things and not worldwide (they aren't and that's easy to find online; the censors missed it.) Naturally the Gang Green continues to fight because this was and remains the key to imposing world government and international socialism. And they just suffer from terminal arrogance, which is how the Left recruits in the first place; tell kids they are "the best and brightest" and that they should disdain anyone who disagrees with them. It's a powerful incentive to young mediocrities. That is how they get respect, by parroting what the Leftist websites tell them to say. The Gang Green has whole websites devoted to how to argue with skeptics and these people read those and then think they are going to win the argument easily. (Our side has nothing comparable.) And of course the Left controls the web search engines so finding the information we want is difficult. It can be found but it takes a lot of digging. You find the alarmist pap immediately when doing a web search. Even Duckduckgo sucks in that regard. We desperately need a conservative search engine.

Anyway thought you should know.

Just because you look like a hoe, sound like a how, act like a hoe, doesn't mean you are a hoe (oh wait...)

I'm surprised the Left hasn't started promoting prostitutes to call the cops on their johns on the theory that the johns broke the law.

GOP Starting to Pull Ahead

Timothy Birdnow

The polls are now starting to turn our way.

New polling shows Republicans leading or in dead heats in nine key Senate races.

  • Incumbent Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall leading by 5 points
  • Incumbent Nebraska GOP Sen. Pete Ricketts leading by 5 points
  • Incumbent Alaska GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan leading by 2 points
  • Incumbent Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins leading by 2 points
  • Incumbent Ohio GOP Sen. John Husted leading by 1 point
  • Iowa GOP Rep. Ashley Hinson leading by 4 points (for an open seat)

I caught Fox News Sunday, which always annoys me with it's RINO flavor and Shannon Bream is a dope, and it was a monologue of gloom and doom, even by the Conservatives on the panel. They were moaning about how the GOP is being forced to spend money in normally reliable places, completely ignoring the fact that Minne-freakin-SOTA is in play. But if you really follow the money you will find billionaires are donating 80/20 to the GOP, and that is the REAL story; these are guys who don't waste money on losers.

This happens every election cycle; the Dems are predicted to walk away with it and then the polls start tightening and by election day are fairly close to the final count. That's because early on they are designed to depress our side and embolden the Left but then at the end they don't want to embarrass themselves (as did Iowa pollster J. Ann Selzer who did NOT retract her predictions that Kamala Harris was going to blow out Trump at the end and wound up being sent into early retirement). The fact is polls are not about predicting the mood of the country nor how it will vote but about leading her.

So at least nine battleground states are increasingly appearing to be Republicans to lose, and yet the media keeps acting as if all of America hates Donald Trump and will vote for Bolsheviks and Islamic Jihadists rather than elect Trump-friendly Americans.

I don't buy it. Hope I'm right but I've been right for the last few election cycles now. Sometimes it sucks being right, but in this case I hope I am; I will rejoice.

Losing the Asian Oil Market

Timothy Birdnow

I was worried about this.

Because most American oil has to be obtained through fracking it is naturally more expensive. Add high shipping costs and it becomes too expensive.

And we struggle to refine it anyway, what with just a handful of refineries left in America after 12 years of Obaama and Biden and eight of George W. Bush, an oil man who promoted "renewable energy" (which flies in the face of the common lie told by the global warming nuts that "big oil" funds "deniarism" when in fact a big oil man pushed alternative energy into the forefront and cost us dearly.)

But what will happen when oil stops flowing out of the Gulf completely? They will have to turn back to us.

I had a big argument with a liberal about Trump's first term and how he tried to shore up oil prices. This clown made the usual liberal points about plutocracy and Big Oil and I pointed out at the time this was when oil was very cheap and Mr. Trump needed to shore up prices to a degree so American oil would be competitive on the world market. As far as I know Mr. Trump has never been invested in any real capacity in oil but he is businessman enough to understand we couldn't let oil sink to low or our entire industry would crash, and then when prices went back up we'd have nothing to fall back on; we'd be at the mercy of the Arabs or Venezuela and that would be that.

While our oil companies are doing fairly well now with prices high we are losing our export market, and that isn't a good thing.

But if it hurts us it will hurt the Chicoms or other Asian markets worse.

The big issue here is that we need our oil companies investing in drilling, in exploration, and in refineries. They are doing that right now. If they get too broke they will stop and play a waiting game, selling oil purchased from elsewhwere.

Anyway it's an issue. Hopefully we can get the costs of shipping down to a dull roar. As regular readers know, it's in large part an insurance problem; American companies now insure the tankers rather than the British but they are charging more because it is a more dangerous thing to ship oil these days. That has driven the prices up.

That needs to change. But it will in time - if the GOP holds Congress. If not all bets are off.

Sparkles Strikes Again and NY Post Lies About Fraud

Timothy Birdnow

STANDING! Common Cause, the leftist organization, has zero standing in this case.

If states are going to allow mail-in voting that means ballots can and will cross state lines and that means the Federal Government has the authority to see voter rolls to avoid mail fraud.

You can't take a woman across state lines to have sex with her but you can steal an election by crossing state lines. Why can't there be a Mann Act for voting?

We all remember Sparkle aka US District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan, who has weighed in on such issues before. She is a ditzy Bidenbot who shouldn't judge a hot-dog eating contest but here she is overstepping her authority (she has no power to rule on national policy but only in her district per SCOTUS) and making national policy.

No state has the authority to overrule fair elections by running an election machine. That is disenfranchising the other states and stealing the votes of honest voters.

SCOTUS had previously paused her order on this very issue but she just ignored them and came back with another. Oh, and since it's within the ninety day window the order is wholly unnecessary because the Administration is barred BY LAW from reviewing voter information. She made this ruling entirely to set a precedent; she figures the Supreme Court won't review it since it is a moot point but then it becomes a precedent.

Here is where you can never trust the New York Post or any other Newscorp publication:

Trump, who falsely claims his loss in the 2020 presidential election was due to voter fraud, ordered the Justice Department last year to crack down on voting by ineligible people, despite multiple state audits and independent studies showing such voter fraud is rare.

end

How did the NY Post determine Trump "falsely claimed"; there is ample evidence and more coming out all the time. This was the mantra used by the entire media in '20 and Trump was prevented from having the information he needed to prove the election was stolen (it WAS stolen; we know tens of thousands of bad ballots were cast in Georgia, which would have overturned the election results). This is a damnable lie but Newscorp persists in it because a.they settled a lawsuit (which they probably would have won) over accusations of fraud and b. they are Establishmentarians and have never had any use for Trump.

So a pox upon their collective houses. If they don't want to say the election was stolen at least maintain neutrality. But this was probably something written into their agreement with Dominion.

Iceaphobes Rabid Response Tries to Provoke Agents

Timothy Birdnow

A "rapid, er, rapid response" team of Iceaphobes violently attacked Ice Agents in an Oregon parking lot.

They were hoping for a shooting by the agents; the Democrats need an "incident" to push the public to vote against Republicans in the upcoming election and were hoping to provoke one.

There is video. The scene is chaotic and very loud as these leftists are all blaring their car horns while trying to box in the agents. Oh, and they are waving Mexican flags.

Keystone Secret Service

Timothy Birdnow

If I were Trump I'd fire the Secret Service and hire my own private security.

This is what DEI does to things; they have been hiring unqualified people for years now and it shows.

I've long suspected the SS has had a different standard for protecting Mr. Trump than they had for previous Presidents. The fiasco where Trump got shot proved they had a loosey-goosey approach to keeping Trump safe, if it wasn't purposeful. Given the fact our intelligence agencies despise Trump and they are the ones who carry out such things as assassinations one wonders if the SS isn't in on it.

But they don't need to be; they are so incompetent anyone serious about killing the President would be able to do so.

I suspect the Deep State doesn't want to kill him at this point but rather would like a few incidents to frighten him. Killing him would make him a martyr. Better to make him a lame-duck and then, as a private citizen, they can punish him all they like. They plan to, because they cannot allow anyone to ever do this again. Everyone has to be afraid.

Were I Trump I would create a private security force and staff it with old-time military guys. Of course, if he does, the media will compare them to the Gestapo, but that is better than being dead.

Eight Out of Ten Billionaires Agree

Timothy Birdnow

They wouldn't be doing this if they weren't confident the GOP is going to win.

These aren't people who got rich wasting money. They have better information than do we and know which way the wind is blowing.

Billionaires have donated $344.3 billion to Republicans this election cycle.

So do not believe it when the media - even Fox Snooze - tells you there is a blue wave coming. Billionaires disagree.

Fed Up with Zelensky

Timothy Birdnow

President Trump has about had it with Ukrainian dictator Volodomor (which mans the prince) Zelensky.

The Ukrainian President for Life (who has overstayed his term of office) has angered President Trump by attacking Russian diesel refineries, contributing to the worldwide diesel shortage and driving up inflation in the U.S. (Vladimir Putin at least holds sham elections, something Zelensky doesn't bother doing.)

Trump posted:

Rapid Response 47

@RapidResponse47
·
Follow
.@POTUS: We told Zelensky, 'You can do whatever you want to Russia, but don't hit the refineries because that's a world problem.' And what does he do? He goes and hits the diesel fuel. He better damn well stop.

This right after a Trump had a very productive phone call with Vladimir Putin.

Putin had agreed to provide 300,000 tons of diesel to the West.

Was this a wise strategy by Zelensky? Probably in that the Europeans won't sour on him no matter how much he hurts their people and the sale of diesel will bring Russia some very much needed revenue. But he has now angered the President and knowing Trump he will find a way to punish the Ukrainians.

The GOP in Congress should put through a bill to scrap the Lindsey Graham funding bill for Ukraine but they won't do it, I am sure. Trump's been on the fence about restricting the exportation of American diesel; now is the time. Make the Europeans suffer from no fuel. Maybe they will bring pressure on Ukraine for this.

Trump should restrict weapons exports to Ukraine too. Without our weapons I suspect the Ukrainians will find their war fortunes changing quickly. They are heavily dependent on American military aid.

If any nation wants our help they have to accept our conditions. Ukraine would long since have become a province of Russia were it not for our aid. But, like all welfare recipients, they are ingrates on a par with the rest of Europe.

There is nothing more despised than a benefactor.

At any rate Trump is going to have to punish Ukraine and Zelensky. Make no mistake; Zelensky is cheering for the Democrats to win in November.

BTW 72% of Ukrainians hold Zelensky personally responsible for the terrible corruption in the country. If there were elections held the big Z would lose. And they are right.

There is precious little interest in Zelensky's wealth or where his money is going. I find that quite interesting given the Ukrainians were sending lots of money to Hillary Clinton back in '16. And Elon Musk found more than half of U.S. aid to Ukraine was laundered back to Democrats.

Trump is right; Ukraine needs a new President. Zelensky is only out for himself.

A Flock of Eyeballs

Timothy Birdnow

Flock's camera network should be called "flock U".

"Customer hereby grants to Flock a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide license to (a) use and disclose Customer Data to provide the Flock Services; and (b) use Customer Data to support and improve Flock’s products and services,” Flock states in its August 2026 terms and conditions. The terms explain that the county keeps ownership of its data.

So this is backdoor spying by both government and a private corporation. Not cool.

I would call this unreasonable search and seizure. It's fine if a cop on patrol spots a suspicious car but to have surveillance cameras watching everyone and selling their information is a clear Fourth Amendment violation.

Fleeing GOP Senator Handing Power to Democrats

Timothy Birdnow

Republican U.S. Senator Steve Daines is leaving a parting gift as he walks away from his Senate seat in Montana.

Daines purposely waited until just before the filing deadline to announce his retirement so his hand-picked successor - U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme - would be the only candidate.

Daines is co-sponsoring a bill to make major changes to procedure in the Senate. He is co-sponsoring the legislation with Oregon Democrat Sen. Jeff Merkley, and they expect a vote while Daines is still in the Senate to help guarantee it's passage.

Partnering with a Democrat shows just where Daines, who was supported by President Trump, really stands. You don't partner with Democrats on things like this. It's a big FU to Trump and to America.

According to the Daily Signal article:

"A bipartisan Senate duo claims it has the answer to "Save the Senate.” The proposal to eliminate cloture votes, limit dead floor time, increase debate time, and create multiple "fast-tracks” for bills could allow the Senate to pass more legislation.

The rule changes, proposed by retiring Republican Sen. Steve Daines of Montana and Democrat Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon, seek to limit dead floor time, limit omnibus bills and backroom deals, and move legislation faster, much like the lower chamber. Their goal is to get the proposal passed before Daines departs and the new Congress convenes in January.

"More bills passed, more votes taken, less time wasted. That sums up,” Daines said in a Semafor interview with Merkley announcing the proposal."

If Democrats are for this there is something wrong with it and either Daines doesn't know this or he's screwing us. I favor the latter interpretation; he's been in the Senate long enough to know how they operate.

Ending cloture means more filibusters and less done, not more. If Daines truly wanted to limit filibusters he would have eliminated the filibuster, not cloture. Cloture is what ends a filibuster.

Senator Mike Lee had this to say about this bill:

"I’m concerned that this proposal would have many of the downsides of eliminating the filibuster and none of the upsides,”

Jeff Merkley (rhymes with Berkeley)" a progressive champion and a workhorse for working families, democracy, and climate.". Is that really who you want to crawl into bed with?

But Daines is doing it and it's going to burn the GOP, I have zero doubt of that.

So why did Daines wait until he retired? Why is he retiring in the first place? The suddenness of his retirement suggests somebody found something on him and he may well be a blackmail victim.

Senator Daines has near perfect attendance and he's never once voted against the party line. Don't know if he believes it or is just a good foot soldier for the Republican Establishment.

I am all for reforms but if Democrats want them you have a problem.

It hurts to lose a guaranteed supporter but on the other hand Daines is probably leaving for the same reason that so many RINO's are leaving and he's getting his pick of replacements (assuming he wins) so no doubt the replacement will be similar to Mr. Daines.

I doubt this will pass but you never know. If it does I hope the Republicans don't get hornswoggle as they usually do, but I have great faith in them. They always think they are ahead of the game when they are in fact well behind. Republicans are like George on Seinfeld; thinking Cramer is a buffoon but he's way ahead of the dim-witted George.

Baseball Memories

Timothy Birdnow

Here is an article reminiscing about the legendary Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson.

A point most people do not know; Gibson was annoyed something awful by Tim McCarver, the Cards catcher. My dad told me about how one time Gibson had put a second guy on base and McCarver came out to the plate "You got two guys on base Bob" to which Gibson testily replied "I know...I put them there". They didn't much like each-other but they worked well together.

I bring it up mainly to reminisce a bit myself.

I was born in 1964, the year the Cardinals won the World Series. My father was a YUUUUGGGE sports fan in general and Cardinals fan in particular. I chose the very last game to come into this world.

My mother went into labor during the game and my father made her wait until the game was over to take her to the hospital.

So I bleed Cardinal Red; I was literally born the day the Cards won the Series.

I feel bad; I was 18 days late. My mom wasn't mad at my dad; she had had false labors a couple of time before D-Day and so she just sat there with contractions coming while my father cheered Bob Gibson and the boys on to victory.

I'm sure it crimped his style though.

If any of you have ever been in a town with a baseball team that won the Series you know it's one of the most amazing, exciting, joyous things you will experience in life. I remember the huge party that erupted in '82 when the Cards beat the Brewers for the championship! It's pure magic!

So I suppose I'm rooting for the Brewers now. I can't say I like blue Milwaukee but I like it better than L.A. And they, like St. Louis, were once a big beer town.

Wonder if the Old Milwaukee will be flowing in the taverns? Not sure even Milwaukee still drinks that.

A friend's father used to drink that stuff and it was o.k. if you drank it FAST. Let it warm much and it was pretty, well, putrid I suppose. But it was cheap, and my friend's dad had a beer fridge that was probably 33 degrees, as cold as you could get beer without it freezing. But, as I say, you had to slam it pretty quick or ugggh...

Anyway good luck to the Brewers.

Interesting Times

Timothy Birdnow

More bad news for the Chicoms.

A word to the wise - deflation is as destructive as inflation, if not more so. Your money is worth more but there are fewer jobs and fewer goods and services and credit is nigh unto impossible to get

The United States had a problem with deflation during the latter days of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and it led to the rise of the Populist Party and the "Free Silver" issue upon which William Jennings Bryan made his fame with his legendary "cross of gold" speech "you shall not crucify Mankind of a cross of gold!" he exclaimed in his speech. That was because the Populists were demanding a bimetallic standard for money, which would lead to inflation. Bryan was a Democrat and he stole their thunder with this. It worked and we've been on an inflationary track ever since. (Gee, thanks!) But the problems with deflation were real, and especially the farmers hated it because it tightened credit ad farmers live or die by credit.

The reason why deflation is so terrible for borrowers is that, while the value of money increases, the amount of money the borrower has to pay to the bank remains constant, so essentially the debtor is giving more and more of his wealth to the bank with every payment. If, to simply the matter, you borrow a hundred thousand dollars from the bank and the deflation rate is 5% you would essentially lose that five percent as you pay it back, and that would compound along with interest rates. The price of goods and services decreases with deflation, but so too does the cost of your debt in real terms.

This is different from disinflation, which is a decline in the rate of inflation. But once it falls below zero it becomes deflation. Goods are cheaper but it hurts manufacturing for that same reason and so a producing economy becomes an importing economy. Beware deflation in the U.S.; the internationalists may move to trigger it to force the U.S. back into dependency on foreign manufacturers.

Deflation also leads to less demand because prices are falling and if you wait they will fall further. We've seen this with new products like computers; once only rich people bought them because they were too expensive. Then prices dropped. Now you can get them for cheap and now everyone buys them. That is how it will go with deflation, only by the time people decide to buy they have no money because you also get wage cuts at the same time in a deflationary cycle. The rich get richer with deflation because their money grows in value, but the poor ultimately get poorer.

That is what is happening in China now. And the peasantry already was struggling; it's going to get a hell of a lot worse for the average Chinaman.

The problem of China is it is a command economy, a Fascist-style economy with corporate/government partnership (with government being far and away the senior partner) and the corporations are generally owned by party members. Crony capitalism we sometimes call it. This hollows out an economy because it is ultimately aimed at the good of the corporate owners (of whom G.K. Chesterton once quipped "the difference between a capitalist and a communist is a bigger paycheck" but he meant under a crony capitalist system like the Nazis had) and for the benefit of the government. The people in such a system get the leavings, and only then to guarantee they stay in the labor force.

The author of the linked article argues China is doing now what Japan did back in the nineties and he believes the same result is now happening to China. Probably true but Japan had a more free system than does China, even though they had a lot of government partnership with corporations (and you may remember Bill Clinton and Al Gore bragged and bragged on the Japanese system and how we needed that in America.) Japan was riding high until they started this fascist economic thing, and I have always known China was a Potemkin Village, a beautiful mask without a person behind it. The huge population and the ability to undercut the export market is what made the mask for them, but in the end their own people couldn't buy what they were making.

This is the inevitable end for any economy planned and controlled by government. Only truly free economies have any staying power when the cold wind blows.

It's getting chilly now in China and they are in peril, so there is every reason to expect them to do what all tinhorn dictatorships do - go on a foreign adventure of some sort.

The Chicoms are not going to go quietly into that good night. They have long bragged this is "their" century and have darkly warned war with the United States is inevitable. They may not be willing to go directly at us but watch for them making a move somewhere else in the world.

The most logical and softest target would be Siberia. The Russians wouldn't be able to stop them now, not unless they used nuclear weapons. But it would permanently break the relationship between the two countries and China needs Russia as an ally. They are part of the Axis.

Taiwan? Perhaps; lord knows they have coveted Taiwan since the Nationalists retreated to the island. But the U.S. would probably stop them under Donald Trump; easier to wait for a weaker President.

I'm not really sure where else they could act but I suspect they are going to have to do something soon. And of course now we have a potential plague pandemic...

We are sitting on a powder keg, not just with China and Russia and Iran. It looks remarkably similar to early 2014.

Anyway I think China's days as an economic superpower are numbered. Trump is squeezing the life out of their economy and they are being starved for things they need like oil. Asian oil isn't very helpful to them because it would be a mother to build pipelines over the Himalayas. They need oil from Iran and from Russia and they just aren't getting enough right now.

It is inevitable there will be shortages of all sorts of goods, and in fact as I point out in this article they are hoarding all kinds of stuff; gold, fertilizer, antibiotics, etc. They may well be planning for war.

War is never easy when you have an economic malaise though, and so they really need an existential threat without actual battlefield losses. Xi Jinping is in a bind.

(While I do not believe we are where we would need to be to witness Armageddon we are pretty close in terms of political and economic and cultural alignments. It will be something that stops the flow of oil from the Middle East that will trigger the Chinese invasion, and Russia will be brought into a war in Syria/Lebanon/Israel, something less clear than the Chinese involvement. And of course the Arab world will be in the thick of it, being in their backyard. Europe and the "West" of course will be the Big Dog in this, the Kingdom of the Antichrist.)

At any rate we live in interesting times, as the ancient Chinese curse would say. I suspect China will do something. Not sure what yet but something.

They, like everyone else in the world, can't wait for Donald Trump to leave office. IF the GOP loses the elections then Trump becomes a lame duck and China could take action against, say, Taiwan because Trump would be stopped from doing much by the Democrat-controlled Congress. The REPUBLICAN House has already voted to end the Iran War by exercising the War Powers Act (but it died in the Senate); change the balance of power and both chambers could well pass it. The War Powers Act does not require a 2/3 majority and the Democrats will probably change the Senate rules to rid themselves of that pesky filibuster when they take power - something John Tune refused to do.

If China invaded Taiwan the Democrats would probably invoke the War Powers Act and stop any military involvement by the United States, handing Xi and his thugs the victory they crave.

As it is the U.S. would be hard-pressed to engage in military combat with China; we've used up so much of our hardware against Iran. And China would have plenty of drones to fight with. Nobody has yet come up with a good defense against drone warfare, since a drone squadron doesn't care about losses; they are cheap to make and do not risk any lives.

We live in interesting times.

What Does China Know?

This from Mike

Off topic kinda. China observer is reporting panic buying of doxycycline and ciprofloxacin both antibiotics along with fever reducers in North East China as fears over a new pandemic rise .Doxycycline is said to be unattainable leading to people asking who is hording this drug and why. Since no one was held accountable for the covid outbreak the fear is China will overnight issue a lockdown and once again inoculate people with an unknown substance only telling them its for your own good. The mother of the woman killed by supposedly the pneumonic plague has called the Russian story BS. Test tubes used in biological research are both shatter proof and fire resistant. She isn't alone as researchers are demanding Russia turn over the gene sequencing that would show the exact cause of death. This could be unjust panic caused by covid or round 2 of something more lethal. Time will tell.

Tim adds:

China is the world's chief manufacturer of antibiotics producing a whopping 42% of the world's antibiotics, so a hording problem is more serious than everyone thinks; it means a worldwide shortage, which means the Chicoms are planning for something big. Either they know something we don't (and it would be the Communist Party too; the public does what they are told and only knows what they are told) or they are manipulating prices to help raise money for something. Either way there is something rotten in the state of Denmark here.

Antibiotics aren't the only thing China is hoarding. They are hoarding fertilizer, food, gold, and they are no longer exporting refined petroleum. These are the actions of a nation planning to go to war.

If the Chicoms aren't planning war they at least are planning for something as disruptive - an economic collapse or worldwide pandemic or whatnot. You don't start hoarding stuff if you don't have something to fear. And they are realists in China.

This is a story to keep an eye on.

Communism v. Christianity

Fay Voshell

Who can doubt that wherever communism has risen, war follows?

The carnage it has caused in this and the last century is beyond dispute. The staggering numbers of people executed, imprisoned, poisoned, starved, and exiled to gulags are almost beyond belief, as the authors of The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression have meticulously documented. The authors are all European. All were and are deeply acquainted with communist ideology and its fruits. One, Stephane Courtois, was a committed Maoist during the 1960s.

The book documents the death toll: 25 million in the former Soviet Union, 65 million in China, 1.7 million in Cambodia. Wherever Communism took root, it immediately led to criminality, terrorist tactics, and suppression of opposition.

But what does communism war against?

The answer to that question is best answered by former true believers who assiduously worked to advance Communism, but who eventually rejected Communism and exposed it for the horrors it produces within any society in which it roots itself.

In America, that question was answered by Whittaker Chambers.

For Chambers, who was a member of the American Communist underground for 13 years and who decisively rejected communist ideology by 1938, the struggles of the West were a war between two irreconcilable faiths -- Communism and Christianity. He wrote:

"The 20th century… is the first century since life began when a decisive part of the most articulate section of mankind has not merely ceased to believe in God, but has deliberately rejected God… The most conspicuously menacing form of the rejection is Communism.”

Chambers, who became a committed Christian in the Quaker tradition, wrote of his experience of Communism and of his eventual rejection and exposure of its influence in America’s political and academic elite in his book Witness, published in May 1952 at the height of the Cold War. Much of the book focused on the 1948 House Committee on Un-American Activities’ Alger Hiss probe. Chambers was a witness against Hiss, who was an active member of the American Communist underground. He was also highly placed in FDR’s administration, including a position as advisor to the president at the calamitous Yalta Conference, which, despite Churchill’s opposition, legitimized the Soviet Union’s occupation and subsequent oppression of Eastern Europe -- including the Christian churches.

Today, it is still important to remember what Chambers wrote in the early fifties, a time during which the Cold War was at its height. Throughout the 799 pages of his book, Chambers points out the core belief system driving the communist ideologues who began infiltrating America’s institutions, including academia, which he saw as beginning to lean left by 1929.

Other institutions were infiltrated, including political entities.

Chambers relates that many Communists were well placed during the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The New Deal and the subsequent establishment of a left-leaning, anti-Christian bureaucracy is a prime example of parasitic communist infiltration. "All the New Dealers I had known were Communists or near-Communists. None of them took the New Deal seriously as an end in itself. They regarded it as an instrument for gaining their own revolutionary ends.”

The New Deal wound up being a pink version of the red Soviet Five-Year Plans. More importantly, the bureaucracy founded in FDR’s tenure accelerated, eventually becoming a foundation of the enormous left-leaning Deep State apparatus that acts as an alternate governance that has been vitiating the American republic for decades. Until the advent of the Trump administration, it remained virtually untouched, encountering only sporadic resistance.

The deep infiltration of American institutions was not confined to national boundaries. As Chambers noted, communist influence was global: "There is an invisible chain of command that laces the world.” That invisible command was (and is) characterized by terrorism: "The communist party, despite occasional pious statements to the contrary, is a terrorist organization… It respects only force. Only terror terrifies it.”

He added that since Communism is globalist in nature and characterized by warfare, it inevitably comes into conflict with Christianity, the foundational belief system of the West and a supranational world view found in almost every corner of the globe. Christianity’s claims of a transcendent God who is the Creator of the universe and a supernatural order that influences the destinies of mankind and its institutions comes into direct confrontation with the Communist belief system, which believes only in the power of the human being and the almighty state. As Chambers noted, the communist worldview is "An attempt to imitate the escape of national and institutional boundaries as the Christian church did, but with the view of disrupting and destroying rather than reform.” (Italics mine.)

Chambers understood the Communist mentality because he lived within that worldview for many years. But as he witnessed the carnage that system of thought perpetrated, he understood that he must break from it. As he put it, "The Communist breaks because he must choose at last between irreconcilable opposites -- God or Man, Soul or Mind, Freedom or Communism.”

A realist, he believed the only answer to the terrors of Communism was probably the least likely choice. As Daniel J. Mahoney points out in his essay "Whittaker Chambers and the Crisis of the Modern Soul,” that option was that "The West must either ‘develop or recover’ those spiritual and moral resources that constituted its superiority over communism or risk irrevocably losing its soul.”

The option will only be realized with the rise of Christian opposition to a worldview that elevates man over God.

At this time, much of the Christian church is partially paralyzed into submission by the absorption of the leftist dogma that insists Christianity has no place in any sphere other than the church buildings. The retreat into a subculture has led to lack of discernment and a refusal to confront Communism -- as most Christians once failed to confront anti-Jewish and anti-Christian fascism.

The steady retreat from the secularized world stage is partly due to a vague and amorphous ecumenism that regards all faiths as equal and above judgment. The result is that many have failed to see communism regards the elimination of the Church as necessary in order the world it wishes to construct after the ruination of the West may rise.

But instead of recognizing and confronting the threat, the church generally has accepted faith as a merely private matter; or, as seems to suggest, the doctrines of faith become determined by group (synodal) consensus rather than by supernatural revelation.

Churches’ refusal or inability to acknowledge the applicability of the transcendent, supernatural Christian faith to all spheres of Western civilization has allowed the witless absorption of the leftist mentality--sometimes unconsciously, but often quite deliberately, as in the case of many Main Line denominations. Witness the capitulation of the Presbyterian Church USA to communist-inspired liberation theology.

But resistance by the Christian church to the corrosive effects of the communist faith now often allied with terrorist organizations, must happen if the West is to survive. The Church must confront the relentless anti-civilizational attacks presently ravaging Europe and now threatening America as well.

Resistance is possible.

But resistance can only begin by understanding, articulating, and confronting what Chambers saw as the "irreconcilable moralities” of Communism and Christianity.

Christian thought leaders can begin by recognizing what Chambers, immersed as he once was in the Communist faith, eventually discerned: "There are two great camps of men -- those who reject and those who worship God.”

When a Young Person's Fancy Turns to...

Timothy Birdnow

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Eisenhower.
Eisenhower who?
Eisenhower late for the gangbang at Cornell.

"i really liked being w u and matt. so anything anyone has to say about the gangbang is out of their jurisdiction."

"i don't think we should feel any shame for the part. our body our choice asf."

One question; why is she Jane Doe but the boys have been publicly named? This is a charge that will ruin these kids even if they are acquitted because their names have been made public. If she deserves to have her name withheld so too do the men involved.

Hitler Mussolini Takes Peruvian Town

Timothy Birdnow

And here we thought we won the Second World war!

Mussolini ranon the centre-left Ahora Nación party ticket and was elected mayor of Queropalca. The mayor of a neighboring Polish-majority town is said to be sandbagging defenses around the town square.

I know Nazis and probably Fascists fled to South America after the war (primarily to Argentina) but it's not exactly subtle to name your kid after the two worst Fascists in history.

The Smell of Victory

Timothy Birdnow

I know gamers often have bad hygiene, but come on!

Joe Louis fought many oddballs in his illustrious career but one of the more colorful characters was a guy named Two Ton Tony Galento. Galento was so nicknamed because he was obese, not merely a big heavyweight but obese, and proud of it. (That is very rare in boxing because usually it means the fighter has no stamina and Louis said he'd fun out of gas by the fourth round.)

But Galento had a secret weapon; he never, ever bathed. They say you could smell him blocks away. When he was in the ring no opponent wanted to clinch with him because he was so foul. He won a lot of fights just by getting his opponent to refuse to engage with him. Skunks crossed the street when Galento was coming.

This guy was kind of like that, I guess.

Galento, annoyed by Louis characterizing him as a third rate fighter, coined the phrase "I'll moider da bum."

And, despite having his face cut to the point it looked like ground beef, the stinking fat man knocked Louis down in the third round. Louis got up and promptly knocked Galento out in the fourth.

So I suppose this gamer was channeling his inner Two Ton.

Obama Judge Bocks Deportation of Criminal Illegal Shot by ICE

Timothy Birdnow

A Dominican illegal alien wanted for multiple crimes was recently shot by ICE agents in New York City. Now a judge has ordered he not be deported because we just don't have enough criminals nor illegal aliens in America, I suppose.

We need to start deporting these judges.

An Obamabot - US District Judge Paul Oetken - issued the ruling forcing ICE to keep hands off of Oscar Belgal, and it also forbids authorities from moving the criminal out of his jurisdiction so they cannot hope to get a fair deal from a more sane judge.

Belgal is appealing his detention on the grounds that illegal alien criminals have to make a living too.

So much of the judiciary was appointed by Obama and Biden and Bill Clinton largely because the Republicans operated under the premise of "to the victor go the spoils" yet when they were in power Democrats fought them tooth-and-nail over every appointment. So now the judiciary is crawling with radical leftists who are showing their hand because the word has gone out that they now have to earn their keep.

This case should not have made it before a judge at all; the man is an illegal alien and criminal and he has no right to access our courts in the first place.

Votes for Everyboy!

Timothy Birdnow

If non-citizens can vote, why not small children? The brain-dead (well, they already do in most Demcrat states)? Heck, why limit it to brain dead; why not the actual deceased? Maybe cats and dogs while we are at it.

If a state can overrule the rest of America we wind up with the very problem the Constitution was designed to prevent - a nation ruled entirely by a couple of high population states. That was why the Senate was created in the first place.

This is a judge imposing the Democratic Socialists of America's platform. Radical democracy without any sort of boundaries.

If this judge wants aliens to vote then the simplest solution is to have no aliens in America; stop ALL immigration and remove any and every immigrant, legal and illegal, in this country. Somehow I suspect another Democrat judge will rule that unconstitutional too.

This is old, settled law and it is a massive overreach by this judge (who has forgotten that SCOTUS said District Judges did not have the authority to make nation-wide blanket rulings) who simply invented a new power inherent in the states. He's indulging a kind of nullification that would make John C. Calhoun feel like a hayseed.

This ruling should prompt Congress to dissolve this guy's district and make him seek work elsewhere.
